5 Things to Do Before Booking Your Driving Lessons

You need to plan ahead when you're thinking of taking your driving lessons in Sheffield or elsewhere in the UK.

Planning is an essential part of your driving process and there are a number of tasks that need to be completed before you book your driving lessons.

The first thing you need to think about before booking your lessons is how you will fund them. Most people save up months before taking lessons and this is something you need to think about before you start. Some are lucky and their driving lessons are funded by their parents as a birthday present. Another way to fund them would be to take out a loan, although we strongly recommend avoiding this as much as possible because no debt is good debt.

The next thing you need to do before booking your driving lessons is to get your provisional driving licence because you can't start your driving tuition without it. Your instructor will ask to see this on your first lesson and if you haven't got it then they won't take you out on the road because it's a legal requirement that you have one. It is very simple to apply for a provisional licence,do it now and get ahead with booking your driving lessons.

The next stage in booking your lessons is looking around for the right driving school. There are different ways in which you can find driving schools in your area. Firstly you can look on search engines such as Google and search for a driving lessons. Most schools have a website with all the information you will need. Other means of finding the right school for you would be the yellow pages. This would involve you ringing them up to find out details and is not as informative as the internet however it's still useful.

City Wide Driving Lessons Leeds

After finding your driving school check that you will get good lessons from them; it 's important to find out if you will get a good service and you can do this by reading reviews and testimonials that ex-pupils have left about the school you're thinking of booking with. This is a great insight to how any business runs because it's pupils first hand experience with that school.

The final stage to booking your driving lessons after finding the right driving school is to get on with your driving tuition! Start revising for your theory test as soon as possible because it will help you both on the road and it will speed up your learning. Pass your theory test as soon as possible so it doesn't hold you back when booking your practical driving test.

If you want to take driving lessons in Leeds or to pass your driving test quickly, then the best route to take is through an intensive driving course in Leeds. We have weekly courses available, and you could soon have your very own driving licence in as little as 2 weeks. Painting and Decorating Techniques Dragging

Painting and Decorating Techniques: Dragging

To create a feeling of luxurious silk or designer wallpaper "faux dragging" can be applied on the majority of adequately smooth and readied surfaces. Whilst it is a fairly easy technique to actually learn it creates enormous benefits to the overall painting and decorating project as the finishes are both luxurious and stunning.

A huge number of different glazes and latex paints can be used to create the "faux dragging" effect but we would always suggest using an oil based paint or glaze as it will give your more leeway in terms of trying to manipulate it into the requisite styles as non-oil based ones can dry extremely quickly. This best thing about this technique is that not only does it work on walls and ceilings but it can easily be applied to most types of woodwork and furniture.

The effect is created when a dry brush is pulled through a coloured glaze. In doing so the base colour is revealed in very fine lines, which make the wall's look like silk fabric. Dragging is most effective in soft colours such as pastels, over a white base coat. You can also use a cream or off-white base with tan or taupe colours to create a "vintage" look.

So here are the steps you need to take to perform "faux dragging":

Apply the two coats of a latex base coat (white or off-white). After painting both coats, let the wall dry for at least two hours.

Mix satin latex paint with latex glazing liquid according to the instructions n the package of the glazing liquid.

Apply the coloured glaze to a workable length of surface.

Start at one end and pull a 4" dragging brush (or any long bristled brush) through the wet glaze. You can also perform this technique using a dry rag. Repeat several times to get the desired effect. Keep your hand as steady as you can as you drag.

Also note that if you are actually working with the full height of a wall from ceiling to base board, you can use a very wide brush, such as a wallpaper brush or even the wide end of a broom.

Repeat steps 3 & 4 on the next area. Clean the dragging brush on a rag before dragging the next area.

If applying the dragging finish to woodwork or trim, apply a coat of varnish, after the finish is dry.

How Much Should You Pay For Driving Lessons?

The cost of driving lessons depends on a few factors. Though many of these factors are beyond the control of an average person, some are quite within your direct influence. Knowing some facts about the industry will let you bypass those factors that cannot be changed (and offset extra costs), while allowing you to exploit to your advantage those factors you can.

For example, your location can be a huge factor -- in the big cities, which have many teams of driving instructors outmanoeuvring each other, rates are often lower than in more regional locations as a result of this competition. Unfortunately, place of residence is not an easy circumstance to change. Nobody needs to travel far to get driving lessons.

For those living in the regional areas, the smaller number of available schools often means that they can almost monopolistically set the price of their services. But you do not have to pay extra high for driving school tuition -- you can always look around to compare and find the differences and similarities between many schools. This task is of course made even easier now, what with the proliferation of online sites doing precisely this type of comparison shopping.

Tuition typically starts from $40 per hour on the cheaper side, all the way to $90 or $100 per hour of lesson in the larger, more established schools. Anywhere between these rates are a variety of bad schools with cheap prices, great schools with extremely high prices, or great instructors at low prices.

Fortunately, information is now readily available when looking for driving lessons that will suit your expectations and your budget. In the past, driving schools could get away with their pricing because the public generally has little source of information about the business. But since the advent of social marketing, what was once 'word of mouth' marketing for driving schools is now posted on social networking sites, such as Facebook. A single dissatisfied customer, or one very impressed student, could make or break the reputation of established driving schools.

All this of course is to the advantage of the public. Nowadays, driving instructors are going online and launching their marketing and promotions via the Internet. If you are looking for driving schools, this is a great way to connect with schools operating in your area, look for the most suitable rates, and find out what other customers are saying about the school.

Final word, look for lessons offered for groups -- these are offered cheaper. Also, there are driving schools that guarantee you'll pass at first try; otherwise, your next driving lessons are free.

If you want to take driving lessons in Leeds or to pass your driving test quickly, then the best route to take is through an intensive driving course in Leeds. We have weekly courses available, and you could soon have your very own driving licence in as little as 2 weeks. Painting and Decorating Services

Painting and Decorating Services

Painting and decorating services are used around the world on a daily basis. They are used in residential and commercial properties and often consist of an experienced team of professionals who provide years of knowledge and experience when it comes to measuring, stripping, filling, preping and painting, just to name a few.

In this service, you are put at risk on a daily basis. While you may not see the painting and decorating services industry as a risky business, you may be surprised to note exactly how many risks you face each day and what you can do to reduce the risk of injury moving forward for you and your team.

Anyone responsible for a team of painters and decorators must hold a health and safety certification and know what to do each day to ensure the best safety measures are in place, reducing the risk of injury and ensuring that everyone working on site, understand the dangers.

The first thing you need is to understanding the risks involved when it comes to painting and decorating services, identifying which of these risks relate to the services you are providing and enabling you to put a risk assessment in place to reduce the risk of injury or harm to you or any of your team throughout the project.

The last thing you want is for one of your team members to injure themselves on the job without adequate training, which could result in a hefty claim against you. The problem is that many company owners don't realise that in the event of a team member getting injured on site, you can be held responsible and be forced to settle the claim accordingly, which could amount to millions.

The risks involved in this industry include falls from heights, electricity exposure, climbing stairs, eye injuries, cuts, losing limbs, falling objects and sun exposure, just to name a few. Chances are that half of these never even crossed your mind that they may provide hazardous conditions to your team. Other risk involves toxic fumes from paint and equipment use.

The next step once you have been around the project area, identified the potential risks and drawn up a thorough risk assessment is to identify how to reduce the risk of injury or worse while working on this one particular project.

There are some things you can ensure your teams understand, such as paying close attention to detail in everything they do at all times. The next is to ensure all team members complete their health and hygiene courses, providing them with the training they need to ensure the highest level of safety when providing painting and decorating services to clients throughout the area.

Ensure all team members have adequate training when it comes to plant and equipment used. This can reduce the risk of accidents and ensure that everyone using the equipment knows how to use it in a safe and controlled manner.

In addition to this, you may want to consider using water based paints rather than the more toxic paints. Not only is water based paints much easier to clean when it comes to accidental drips and mess, but it also produces less toxic fumes to inhale. You will also want to take the time to read the danger warnings on all paint cans before use.

Ensure that all rooms you are working in are well ventilated, reducing the risk of inhalation. Also get your teams to wash their hands at regular intervals, especially after working closely with certain dangerous chemicals and solvents.

How to Get the Best Driving Lessons

Many people find it hard to remember all the details taught in the driving lessons after completion of the course. This reason together with over-speeding have been proven to be the major causes of some of the fatal accidents being experienced recently. Road accidents can be avoided by taking the lessons carefully and from an accredited driving school.

Attending a driving school is a very important move, the lessons offered are indeed life-saving. Through these lessons, you will be able to understand how a car reacts given different circumstances, all it's capabilities, how you will be able to control the car in various situations and how the car responds to diverse road and weather conditions. Have you ever asked yourself why most road accidents involve new drivers? Well, it because they do not have enough knowledge of the capabilities of the car they are driving. It is very essential to have a good attitude towards your driving lessons. Remember that they will be a big determinant not only in your life but also in your career, that is if your ambition is to venture into a driving career.

Getting the best driving lessons can be quite a task considering the rising number of driving schools. When finding a driving school, we don't only settle for the one that has the best in terms of lessons, but also look the one that has the best in regards to effectiveness and pricing. The first move in finding the best driving school is by asking your friends and relatives that have been there. Make sure that you clearly tell them your plans and what to expect from the driving lessons. They will be in a better position to give you some of the advantages and disadvantages of the some of the schools. From that, you will be able to evaluate them and choose the best.

The other option is using the Internet. Nowadays, this has become the best place of carrying out any kind of research. The Internet has become a well of facts and truths. Most driving schools have established themselves online, therefore it is much easy to compare the services and prices offered by most of them. Always settle with a school that offers some additional services. Also, use feedback form clients to measure the school's effectiveness.

Always verify if the school is accredited, you will not want to finish a course only to find that the certificate you have awarded is not genuine. So, be very careful on this section. In addition, ensure that you visit the school of your choice prior to attending the lessons. This will give you an opportunity to see some of the facilities available there. An institution that utilizes modern equipment proves itself as been dedicated to offering nothing but the best.

The only precise way of getting the best as far as driving lessons are concerned, it by doing proper and dedicated research. This is a very crucial step that should be treated with the seriousness it deserves.

Painting and Decorating Services 15 Top Tips

Painting and Decorating Services: 15 Top Tips

Painting and decorating services is one of those provisions that we all consider and use at some time. It may be when you have just moved house or when you fancy a makeover, bringing your house up to date or when you are just looking for a change to your current décor.

Painting and decorating services differ widely in terms of their skill-base, prices and customer service but all offer largely the same thing in terms of product. All painting and decorating services will, as the title suggests) paint and decorate. However, the ways in which they do it, the skill level, qualification, accreditation, prices, customer service, guarantees, and likability can all differ greatly.

This is why it is important that you have confidence in the painting and decorating service you hire to carry out the work you want. All too many mistakes are made when hiring a good painter and decorator and all too many people go either for an odd-job man, a 'cowboy' or amateur. Far better you be sure about who you are hiring. So here are some key questions you need to ask before you commit to a provider:

1. Do they understand the job that you want doing? If it is complex then explain it clearly and make sure they know what you want.

2. Does the person have the requisite skills and ability to do the job - how do you know?

3. Make sure your service provider has either accreditations or qualifications that testify to their ability. Or that they are a member of a recognized association like the Painting and Decorating Association

4. Don't assume that because they don't have up to date qualifications that they aren't good at their job they may have just neglected this - find out.

5. Do they have references or examples of work they can show you that demonstrate the quality of their work?

6. Do they offer a guarantee for the work they do? What is it?

7. Seek out several quotes for the work you want doing. Don't necessarily go for the cheapest - see what they offer first.

8. If the painter and decorator is a 'one man' business then find out how many other jobs he has going on at the same time. If there are too many then they might find it difficult to complete your job in one go or they may take a long time. If there aren't any then try to find out why - are they just not busy at the moment or is there another reason?

9. Do they appear on a local authority list of certified providers?

10. Don't assume that the most expensive quote will be the best, and likewise don't assume that the cheapest won't be good.

11. If you have a busy lifestyle either through work or children that they can work flexibly.

12. If you have to leave them alone in your house don't leave valuables around. Niether assume that you can't trust them. The vast majority are like you - perfectly law abiding.

13. If the job is big and likely to take a long time and cost a lot of money then work out an agreement whereby you either pay when the whole project is complete or whereby you pay as each agreed stage is complete.

14. Bear in mind that one man businesses often work from job to job and so appreciate prompt payment to help with their cash flow. If they are good and you want them to come back then it may be worth doing this for good relations

15. Keep an eye on the project to make sure they are doing what you want them to. A provider doesn't want to be micro-managed but at the same time they'll appreciate your guidance

There are many aspects to painting and decorating services and find the right person with the right skills and qualifications is important. If you want to make the right start with your search then just click into our service page and seek a quote - there's no obligation but you can get an idea of how much a job will cost very quickly.

Will Cheap Driving Lessons Be Worse Than the Expensive Ones?

You really don't know, all you can do is check out the school before you trust them with your child. You will most likely be able to find cheap lessons around your area. Just be sure you check out the insurance plan, the cars and the teachers before you sign anything.

All driving schools have to be insured against any accidents or damage that may occur. The instructors, cars, and students should be covered completely. Be sure to ask these questions and look at the cars. If possible, meet and talk to the instructor before signing any papers.

One of the ways that you can find cheap driving lessons is to do the written part of the lessons online. Many places offer this now to reduce the cost. If this is the case with the school you found, than it should be just as safe as any other school.

The reason this is legitimate is because your test results have to be filed with the proper authorities. You get the same book everyone does and work at your own pace. When you are ready, you go for the driving portion at the place that offered the cheap driving lessons. This might be how they are able to keep their costs low.

You might be able to find cheap driving lessons from someone you know who does lessons on the side. You can check your local paper or ask around, chances are someone that you know will know someone else who does this.

Another instance might be that someone who needed to find driving instructor jobs took something part time working for a legitimate school and he or she offers cheap driving lessons. The times of the lessons might vary and they might not always be available but if you can deal with this you might find a good instructor who gives great lessons.

When you are in doubt of a school that is offering driving lessons for less than anyone else ask them how they are able to do this. The answer just might surprise you. Maybe their overhead is very low. Or all of their instructors only work on a part time basis. If you can meet the teachers and check out the insurance coverage that they have these might be the cheap driving lessons you were looking for.

Painting And Decorating Made Easy

Painting And Decorating Made Easy

Painting is a quick and straightforward way of decorating your property. Pound for pound, paint will be the quickest, easiest and most economical redecorating option. Combining new colours and decorative techniques on the ceilings, walls and trim could make your property come alive again.

The first step is to prepare the surface ready to paint. This important first step will save you tremendous amounts of time later. The surfaces have to be smooth, cleaned and primed. Preparation will tremendously influence the ultimate result. Colour washing is often a subtle, elegant and simple finish to master. It is a type of antiquing with your goal to make the wall looking old. Colour washing works well on textured walls as well as smooth walls. The painter would casually and lightly brush translucent coats of slightly differing colours over a base coat. To reinforce the effect, use much more one glaze colour and work it in slightly. A darker shade of glaze should be added all around the perimeter of the wall along with the room corners. It's a great idea to work with a partner when adding a wash on the wall. It will help to speed the process as well as helping to eliminate washing in an unconscious pattern.

Faux leather is a technique that achieves the look of leather or parchment. Natural leather does have imperfections, so, do not be afraid if faux leather has has the same. First a base coat is painted over the wall and allowed to dry, followed by a glaze. Before the glaze dries, thin plastic bags or sheets are used to take away the wet glaze. This step creates a subtle texture and calming finish.

Ragging is used to produce a diverse texture. It will help conceal an uneven surface. First a solid colour base coat of paint is applied to the surface and allowed to dry. Then a layer of glaze is applied with some of it removed before it dries. Roll a dry, loosely wrapped rag through the glaze to generate the desired texture. Various textures can be created depending on the texture of the rag used. Cotton tee-shirts work best, but rags can also be purchased at home or car centres. When choosing colours for the base coat and glaze, choose colours that are close on the colour wheel.

Doors and windows are manufactured using the lengths of timber with grain patterns that inevitably run in numerous directions. To accomplish an excellent, professional-looking finish, free from brush marks, you need to paint them in the sequence that takes account of the grain. Think in advance when painting windows using the oil-based paints, as they could take longer to dry than you think. Or use water-based paint, that dries more rapidly and releases much less odour and fumes.

An important step in painting is to enjoy yourself and take your time. Quite often you may find that the more fun you have, the greatest the final result will turn out. The end product will certainly be well worth the wait.

What Are the Benefits of Attending Professional Driving Lessons?

It is a privilege to be able to drive a car. However, this freedom comes with a great responsibility. Automobiles are dangerous, especially when it is driven by someone carelessly. It could pose a threat to other drivers and passengers on the road. There are numerous benefits for attending professional driving lessons. The following are the major benefits of approaching a driving instructor.

1. Safety - The major benefit is that the instructors teach the students to take the necessary safety precautions while they are on the road. They will learn how to handle situations like passing other vehicles and adhering to the road rules. Even though many parents want to teach their kids to drive, this is not a great idea. They are not professionals and do not have the expertise, knowledge, and experience to do this. Instructing a teen driver is a difficult task.

2. Knowledge - The venture is not just focused in helping the learners gain practical experience, but also knowledge. Information that is taught in the professional programs prepares the teenagers for various challenges that they will encounter when they are driving. Knowledge is an important factor that will help them make informed decisions. They will learn the rules and regulations imposed by the state.

3. Practice - It is important to master the skills before the person is out there on the road on his own with his car. Attending the lessons will help the new drivers to gain the practical skills. Many are nervous when they are behind the wheels. Some others may be over confident. Both these instances can be dangerous. The certified trainers know the best approaches for the students. Providing the theoretical knowledge and practical skills is the important part of achieving a valid driving licence. With appropriate guidance and adequate practice, the task is much easier.

4. Specific goals - The driving lessons are not just for the new drivers, but also for those who already have a valid licence, but would like to brush up their skills. If the person has not been behind the wheels for considerable time, he or she may need some help to begin the venture again. These will be shorter programs. There are special programs which can help the drivers gain specific skills like driving a vehicle in the night, during harsh weather conditions, or on dual carriageways.

5. Interactive teaching - Unlike the parents who are trying to teach their teenagers on their own, the instructors are confident about their skills. They might already have helped hundreds of students to gain the licence. Their friendly behaviour will put the new drivers at ease. They will enjoy the interactive learning environment. It is fun to practice driving on the road with them. Most driving schools today offer one-on-one training. They have realized that the shared lessons may not provide adequate attention to the students. The learners have a better understanding of how their cars operate. They will know how to handle the vehicle even if it is a challenging situation.

Driving is a skill that cannot be learned from a book or from mere lectures from amateurs. The hands-on experience and rigorous training will prepare the person to get behind the wheel of a car and drive confidently.

If you want to take driving lessons in Leeds or to pass your driving test quickly, then the best route to take is through an intensive driving course in Leeds. We have weekly courses available, and you could soon have your very own driving licence in as little as 2 weeks. Painting and Decorating DIY or Local Tradesman

Painting and Decorating - DIY or Local Tradesman?

The main reason people embark upon redecoration of their homes or workplace is to freshen up how their space looks, whether for enhanced enjoyment of the rooms they inhabit or for purposes of selling a property.

Painting and decorating covers a multitude of different possibilities and can provide any look you could want. With the proliferation of large DIY stores most of the trade supplies are available to the enthusiastic home owner as well as a multitude of innovative treatments, finishes and fittings, plus the tools to carry out the jobs.

If you decide to carry out the work yourself there is a great deal of satisfaction to be gained, and often (but not always) large monetary savings. The extra cost is of course in your time, but if this makes the project a source of enjoyment and satisfaction or makes it affordable, then of course it can be worth it.

Do beware though that not all jobs are suited to the amateur DIY enthusiast and those requiring technical knowledge or a specific skill are usually left to the professional, as very often a better job results at a lower cost.

Many jobs, although made easier by more manageable products for the DIY market, can still take many times longer doing it yourself and rarely result in as good a finish. There is also the prolonged mess and upheaval involved in completing the task over an extended period of time.

For a long-lasting and smooth looking result the key factor is preparation. This can take many times longer than the actual finishing, but is essential to doing the job right.

If you look hard and honestly at the total picture, in many cases a lot of people will conclude that getting in a professional is the best answer. Any professional painter and decorator will have a number of methods and processes that he will use to ensure a solid foundation to the actual finish that is eventually applied.

When selecting a painter it is a good idea to go by recommendation either personal or from one of the web sites that vet such trades and publish their recommendations.

These days the job of the professional painter and decorator is a far more responsible one. With greater levels of regulation and consumer expectation, the tradesman has to be far more thorough and take more responsibility for the overall standards of the work he carries out, and the impact upon the building he is working in. He must for instance ensure that no damage can be cause to existing décor elsewhere, and that he is fully insured for any mishaps that might occur.

Charlotte Savollis has spent many years improving homes using both DIY methods and extensively employing trades people. She has subsequently built a web site to recommend local trades and business's.

Winter Driving: Take Advice on Your Driving Lessons

Winter is a time of year when the snow falls, it can be fun for everyone, however when driving in snowy and icy conditions you can never be too careful. Snow causes a big increase in accidents on the roads and people need to be more aware of the dangers of winter driving.

If you can help it and your journey is not essential then it's advised that you stay in, however if it is necessary and you do go driving around the streets, make sure the snow plows and salt trucks have been there first. Naturally your first thought would not be to prepare for an incident in the snow; however it's very important that you do.

Make an emergency kit that stays in the car at all times, this includes:

Ice scraper and de-icer
A shovel for snowy conditions
Battery jump leads
First aid kit
Torch
A warm jacket
Blanket
A pair of boots
If you take driving lessons your instructor should inform you on how to stay safe in bad weather conditions. They will also show you how to prepare your car and check that the vehicle is safe.

Checking that your vehicle is safe and ready for the road involves:
Getting your vehicle serviced
Making sure you have enough fuel for your journey
Checking wiper blades to ensure they aren't worn and will keep your windscreen clean and clear
Checking your light bulbs regularly and keeping the headlights clean
Checking tyres are inflated to the recommended pressure and have at least 3mm of tread depth for extra grip to the road
After your driving lessons you are able to take a pass plus course that will include a lesson focusing on bad weather conditions. The instructor will tell you the precautions you should take when driving in winter weather. You may be told too:

Keep your speed down
be aware of vulnerable road users (pedestrians and cyclists)
Avoid harsh steering
Brake and accelerate slowly
Use fog lights in fog, snow or rain.
Many people find that having driving lessons in winter conditions is a scary experience and don't have the confidence to do it, however it's better to first experience winter weather conditions in a car with your instructor as they will give you helpful advice on how to deal with the situation and make you feel at ease knowing they can take control of the car at anytime.

If you want to take driving lessons in Leeds or to pass your driving test quickly, then the best route to take is through an intensive driving course in Leeds. We have weekly courses available, and you could soon have your very own driving licence in as little as 2 weeks. Painters and Painting Tips

Painters and Painting Tips

When it comes to a painting project, one has the option of selecting suitable painters to come and complete the job or you can in fact do so yourself, with the latter often times forming the basis of a so called DIY project. Although you may well be inclined to complete such a task, there are a few things worth mentioning in terms of painting tips that may help within these sorts of projects.

Whether or not you are intending to utilise the services of a painter or not, there are certain types of paints that are specifically formulated and produced for specific areas in the home. Take for instance the kitchen or bathroom areas, these areas are traditionally high moisture content areas of the home and as a result a moisture and peel resistant paint should be selected for these spaces, additionally with added technology and advancements of production within the painting industry one has the option of securing paints that contain anti mildew properties, which in turn will add great value to the painting project and outcome. Even when using painters to complete this project, ask about these types of paints.

In considering a fresh coat of paint or redoing a ceiling or roof area, there are paints available that have been specifically designed for this too. A number of benefits of ceiling specific paints are to be had here, in that they are often times a lot thicker than other types, to prevent any unnecessary running, and less splashes or splatters when painting the roof. This avoids any unnecessary splatters on the floor or supporting walls when looking to paint a ceiling or roof. However when using professional painters they will most likely be aware of these factors, when it comes to this specific topic.

High traffic areas, where people tend to touch the wall either for support, or due to the layout of the given living, passage or room area, require a more durable paint, and perhaps more importantly one that is easily cleaned. The choice of colour here can also play a role in not letting too many finger or hand marks appear on these walls. The use of an acrylic latex paint will make things a lot easier within not only concealing such wall markings, but also in enabling a much easier surface for cleaning purposes. Again if you are using outside painters and related service providers, enquire as to the options of using these types of paints, as well as the resultant pros and cons thereto associated.

In conducting this decorative or functional task of painting yourself, the right tools for the job will ensure your chances of success, whilst reducing the chances of a poor quality or inadequate finish to the painting project. Rollers, brushes, drop cloths, sandpaper, spill trays, primers and related tools will all be required for a painting project, and securing the right tools is essential for this process.

Pros and Cons of Automatic Driving Lessons

Car driving is a daunting task for many people. Some people find it difficult to learn this art of maintaining a balance between gear, clutch and accelerator. Automatic driving lessons provide a good opportunity to get started. If you are confused about taking automatic driving lessons, then here are some pros and cons to help you.

Advantages of taking automatic driving lessons

Such car consists of only two pedals; therefore, a learner feels more comfortable and stress-free. There is no need to change gears of the car as it chooses gear depending on the speed of the engine. It provides a stress-free learning experience to boost your confidence. The combination of clutch, gear and accelerator may divert the focus of the learner from road traffic. However, automatic car drivers can give full attention to what is going on the road. That's why they have good traffic sense, speed judgment and decision-making power.

This car is beneficial for people with learning disabilities or physical disabilities. It provides a good platform to learn to drive for people with learning disabilities or physical disabilities. Automatic driving lessons are helpful for people with autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia. They don't have to master the clutch, gear and brake. Hence, the learning process becomes less complex.

People with physical disabilities have restricted movements. Such people can drive this car with some adjustments. It is a good idea to learn the automatic car if you are struggling to pass a test in a manual car.

Disadvantages of automatic driving lessons

These cars are very expensive. Once you have passed your test in an automatic car, you ought to buy this car. You cannot drive a manual car after passing this test. It would be difficult switching to manual car as your driving skills do not suit it.

Manual car drivers are more skillful than automatic car drivers. A person, who drives manual car, can react better in any bad situation. It is easier to drive a manual car on mountains and slippery conditions. The manual transmission of a car makes it easy to maintain a constant speed on such conditions. You may not have much control over your automatic car on a steep mountain pass. Moreover, you cannot slow down your car using the gear.

I hope that these tips will help you in taking the right decision and learn driving. You can start learning with these simple tips.

Painters and Decorators Guide Spray Painting Application

Painters and Decorators Guide Spray Painting Application

Spray Painting Application is becoming more widely used among painters and decorators in both residential and commercial markets. This is firstly because a perfect finish can be achieved with no brush marks, and the time of completion can be reduced when used appropriately.

In this article we are going to discuss several aspects of spraying including the different types of spray painting equipment, pros and cons of spray painting application, and where spraying is likely to increase efficiency and profits on a painting and decorating job.

For painting and decorating there are two forms of spray equipment that would be appropriate. These include Airless spraying and Fine Finishing Sprayers.

Airless Spray Systems are the larger of the 2 machines and in themselves can vary vastly in size. Airless spraying systems are typically used in larger areas. For instance, large ceiling and wall areas on a commercial job. Airless systems kick out a lot of paint, so you typically get larger amounts of overspray rendering them inappropriate when a delicate hand is required. As all sprayers take time to set up and clean up afterwards, if the job in hand is not particularly large the decorator may find that the traditional method may even be quicker and less hassle. But certainly in large areas, an airless spray can cover much more ground than a roller and brush increasing efficiency and profits.

Fine Finishing Systems are considerably smaller in size than their airless counterparts. Fine finishing systems are 'high volume low pressure' air systems. In basic terms, they are essentially a spray gun on one end and an air blower on the other attached by a hose. The paint itself is in a can on the spray gun and is pressurized. High quality Fine Finishing sprayers, unlike airless systems, can do very intricate work and can produce a spray diameter of as little as 5 mm with virtually no overspray. These systems can complete doors, frames, skirting boards, and other woodwork much quicker than painting with a brush so in many cases it is far quicker and more efficient than the traditional method.

Pros of spray application

- Extremely quick and efficient

- Fantastic flat finish is achieved

Cons of spray application

- High end sprayers can be expensive to buy

- Setting up and cleaning up takes longer than the traditional method

- Masking up

Spray application at its best

- Large environments where no masking up is required from the painter and decorator (Airless Sprayer).

- Intricate panelled doors where a brush may take an hour to complete, spraying can achieve a better finish in minutes (Fine finishing sprayer).

- Intricate beams in commercial and residential environments (Fine finishing sprayer).

- High end properties where a perfect finish is required.

- Areas where wall and ceiling is the same colour. This can reduce 4 hours work to 20 minutes.

Conclusion

A professional Painter and Decorator will often choose a mixture of spray application and traditional application to achieve a great finish and to reduce the time of completion. Spray application where used appropriately can clearly be a great asset to a painting and decorating firm.

Painters and Decorators Benefiting From the Recession

Painters and Decorators Benefiting From the Recession

Painters and decorators are one of the few traders who are benefiting from the recession. With the slow down in home buying and the drop in house prices many can't afford to move home. Rather than riding things out it seems people are opting to make home improvements, from general painting and decorating or a home extension, professional decorators are thriving from the extra demand.

When weighing up the costs of moving against staying put and making some home improvements, there's an easy winner. The cost of having your whole house re decorated sometimes wouldn't even come close to the expense involved in moving, especially during today's climate where many home owners remain in negative equity.

Hiring a professional painter and decorator is a preferred option for many home owners who wouldn't normally have the time to do the work themselves. It means you can make the changes you want, easily and at an affordable price. And the decorators themselves are thriving with the additional demand, with some even having to turn down work. This really can't be said for many trades who continue to suffer from the slow climate upturn, but it's refreshing to know that not everyone is feeling the pinch.

Decorating your home really can transform it, whether your just adding some colour to a room or having a complete home re vamp it can make staying put far more desirable. Although decorating does consist of some hassle in terms of the mess and disruption it can cause, it's only a temporary price to pay for a fresh feeling makeover.

Managing Anxiety in a Driving Lesson

For many people, that very first driving lesson can be like rolling up to a job interview. You may not feel very confident, have fear of failure, and be very unsure of what lies ahead.

For many Learner Drivers getting started on that very first driving lesson can be very scary. However a really good Driving Instructor knows what the Learner is going through and will try to add some light humor, and when they make a few mistakes will make light of it and show them that it is not important and is part of the learning process. When the Learner starts to do well on an activity, the Instructor will give some encouragement on making good progress.

Often the Learner Driver starts the lesson thinking that they have to drive a car and control it when they have never done this before. The Instructor should be quick to point out that the car has dual controls and the Learner will only be doing small activities in a controlled environment and if at any time there is a potential problem the Instructor will intervene and will have complete control of the situation. When the Learner Driver understands this and can see this in action, they are more able to relax and take on the learning process.

Personally, I like to keep a handle on the anxiety level of a Learner Driver. This can be done by asking questions about how they are going and how they are feeling about the activity. Also their facial expressions and responses can provide a guide to how they are going. When under pressure Learner Drivers will not carry out tasks as well as when they are relaxed. When overloaded or the environment changes unexpectedly a Learner Driver can lose control of a situation and have some anxiety about the situation. In some situations a new activity can pose difficulty for some Learners. If the activity is causing some anxiety then it may be better to move laterally to another activity and return another day to that activity. If the Instructor can keep a calm outlook across all adversity and keep some humor flowing into the lesson, then it will make it easier for the Learner Driver to enjoy the lesson.

A Learner Driver will pay good money for a lesson and so should expect to end that lesson with a list of achievements. It is the job of a good Instructor to facilitate those achievements by mentally planning the lesson and the outcomes. A good structured lesson will challenge the learner to achieve their outcomes and will likely pose some hard work and a little anxiety. The anxiety level of the Learner Driver needs to be under control and managed so that the learning process is effective and the Instructor has a big part to play in ensuring that the learning is managed well.

In a good Driving Lesson, a learner should walk away knowing the achievements they made and feeling good about the drive. If the drive went well they will be keen to be back for the next lesson.

If you want to take driving lessons in Leeds or to pass your driving test quickly, then the best route to take is through an intensive driving course in Leeds. We have weekly courses available, and you could soon have your very own driving licence in as little as 2 weeks. How To Paint And Decorate The Nursery Room

How To Paint And Decorate The Nursery Room

Painting and decorating the nursery room can naturally make you suddenly feel creative and adventurous. Although there are simple ways to decorate your baby's room, you might want to deviate from the usual shades of pink and blue, and try out other colours or themes. You might even want to create your own designs and make your own stencils. Here are ways to make decorating your baby's haven as simple as can be.

Plan and prepare

Before anything else, plan and prepare for the painting job. Planning and preparation makes things a lot easier and more organised; it prevents costly mistakes too. Decide on the design and colour you want for the baby room. Determine if you want to do the painting job on your own or let painting contractors do it. If you don't have the skills and materials necessary for the decorating job, better hire someone to do it; it's less hassle. If you go for DIY decorating, make sure you have all the necessary tools and supplies, plus some handy tips.

Make it simple

If you're keen about experimenting but don't really have much painting and decorating experience, you can try out simpler decorating ideas. Pick out a solid colour and paint various shapes and patterns on top, or hang paintings and decors on the walls. You can also go for stripes, dots and checkers. For a neat two-tone wall, simply divide the surface into two parts, and paint two different colours say light blue on top for sky and light green below for meadow. The border doesn't have to be a straight horizontal line; you can make it wavy or zigzag.

Go for stencils

Murals can be simple or complex, depending on the theme you choose. The sure-fire way of painting designs in the baby room is by using stencils. There is an abundance of stencil designs that you can buy from interior design suppliers and decorators. When you buy stencils, choose those ideal for stencilling a wide range of surfaces, and buy stencils designed for repetitive use and easy cleaning.

Decorating the baby room isn't really as simple as slapping a coat of paint onto the walls. You do want the room to look as nice, safe and comfy as possible, especially since this is where your little bundle spends most of her time and you as you babysit her. So if you're short of skills, materials and tools for the job, don't hesitate to call painters contractors. Not only will they save you from all the trouble, they have the resources to create a paradise for you and your little one.

10 Good Reasons for Taking Driving Lessons. A Guide for the Irish Learner Driver

In a driving context, most of the decisions that you take and the techniques that you employ, will have both an economic and a safety impact. The decision to take driving lessons is really a simple one but one that will have far reaching consequences well into the future. Most, if not all, poor or dangerous habits in today's drivers stem from the lack of professional tuition at the outset. In this second in a series of articles designed to assist today's learner drivers we will have a look at the benefits in taking Professional Tuition.

1. Taking lessons will greatly improve your chances of staying safe and accident free since providing you retain what you have been taught, you will be probably better than many motorists who have been driving for considerably longer. Lack of sufficient training, or even no training at all which is common in Ireland, will inevitably lead to accidents at a very early stage in the driving career. Accidents are to be avoided at all costs. After all isn't the safety of the driver, the passengers and other road users the paramount priority?

2. A course of lessons at the start of your driving career and not one month from your Driving Test, will give you the confidence you need to continue the learning process, and will form the foundation for safe motoring.

3. Taking a course of lessons will give you the chance to be accepted by an insurance company for your first Insurance policy. In fact most companies will insist on a minimum number of lessons completed by a recognised school, before a son or daughter will be admitted onto a Parent's policy.

4. On a very topical note, the Irish Insurer Hibernian, in conjunction with the Institute of Advanced Motorists, has extended its successful Ignition scheme to provisional license holders since January 2005.Learner drivers that pass the one hour driving assessment, will be offered a 21% reduction on their insurance. This is a substantial reduction for any new driver, particularly young males under 25 years of age, and well worth achieving. Just being in the possession of a provisional license will not suffice to pass this test. A course of lessons will be needed in order to achieve the required standard and the test should not be booked until quite a high level of both competence and confidence has been reached.

5. Passing the Department of Transport Driving Test, sooner rather than later, will result in further reductions in already high Insurance costs. Lessons taken just before the Driving Test will not cut it in today's Test environment; there is just too much to learn if one wants to be successful first time out.

6. The long waiting list for the Irish Driving Test is a great inconvenience for many learner Drivers and also their Driving Instructors. The long wait is accentuated by the huge numbers of learners who do not prepare adequately with a professional school and then are forced to re sit their Test sometimes several times over. Career aspirations can easily be affected if the journey to a full License is overly prolonged.

7. Obtaining a full driving license promptly will speed up the reduction in your insurance premiums via your annual no claims bonus, providing of course you are not involved in any accidents.

8. As a fully licensed Driver you will have much greater opportunity to shop around for a competitive insurance quote, since there are only a very few companies who will insure provisional license holders and then only at a huge premium.

9. As an addition to item number 4 as a fully licensed Driver, you may apply for the more advanced Hibernian Ignition course, providing you are in your first five years of driving .This is a full day course, the cost of which can be recouped, if you pass the practical driving assessment at the end of the day. The reduction in insurance premium for the successful candidate can be upwards of 30%, so again very worthwhile .Drivers in this category should take a refresher course with a driving school to ensure that any bad habits or techniques are eradicated. Once again it is worth pointing out that the length of your driving experience is not a guarantee of success unless you started on the right foot to begin with!

10. If, in the early days of your working life you are unlucky enough to find yourself jobless through either, takeovers, cutbacks or closures, a full Driving License will enable you to pick up an interim job very quickly while you regroup and examine your future options. There is a shortage of drivers to fill current vacancies in Europe, particularly in the commercial sector so there are great opportunities for young qualified drivers who have been well trained.

Both career and promotional opportunities abound for the fully licensed driver in any organisation. Faced with two candidates of similar qualifications, an employer will naturally favour the person with the full license pretty much every time.

If you want to take driving lessons in Leeds or to pass your driving test quickly, then the best route to take is through an intensive driving course in Leeds. We have weekly courses available, and you could soon have your very own driving licence in as little as 2 weeks. We have a selection of female driving instructors in Leeds with special offers in Leeds, but you need to be quick - offers end at the end of the month!

How to Find a Quality Painter and Decorator

How to Find a Quality Painter and Decorator

If you've made the decision to finally get around to painting that old room or need a new house painted from top to bottom, unless you're a professional painter and decorator chances are you'll want to hire a professional. Whether you're hiring one painting contractor or a team of painting and decorating professionals, knowing what to look for can be difficult - after all most of us aren't frequently hiring a painter and decorator. That's why we've provided you with a few tips on how to find a quality painting contractor:

· Referrals. Chances are you know at least one person in the area who has recently had a room painted by painting and decorating experts. Take advantage of the situation and ask them how they liked the painting contractor and if they were satisfied with the price and quality of work. If they are then it's likely your search will be over before it begins.

· Quotes. Getting a quote from a painting contractor is a great way to estimate the costs of the job and directly compare it to other painting and decorating specialists In addition, during the quote session, it's a great time to get to know them and determine whether or not they know their job well and appear professional.

· Time. When you're getting ready to decorate a new room, chances are you want it done as soon as possible - no one wants to wait weeks to have a room painted. When contacting painting contractors are sure to get an estimate of the time for completion in addition to the price of the job.

· Appearance. One important aspect of a painting contractor that many people often overlook is appearance. While they are in the painting business, if you're hiring a painter and decorator that will be in your home you want them to be courteous and dressed professional - it says a lot about how they'll treat your home while they're in it.

· Be Specific. When you're comparing quotes, be sure to be specific with the painting contractors. Let them know exactly what rooms need painted and in what colors. This will give the painter and decorator a better understanding of the job so they'll be able to provide you with a more accurate quote. In addition, once you've selected a contractor and they begin work, the better understanding will go a long way in ensuring that you get exactly what you wanted when you set out to complete the project.

How Many Driving Lessons to Pass?

As driving instructors, we are often asked that simple question, "How many driving lessons will I need to pass my driving test?" But we find that the answer is not quite as simple as the question!

We can certainly provide you with averages, but every pupil is an individual - with their own learning style and their own pace. On top of that, the learner drivers that have the 'number' of lessons as their target as opposed to the standard of driving, can often take even longer to pass their driving test - this can be due to an inclination towards 'attending' driving lessons (to get nearer the target number) as opposed to 'interacting' and 'learning' (to get nearer the target of meeting the required driving standard).

The DSA (Driving Standards Agency) periodically publish statistics on the number of hours pupils have taken with their individual driving schools, as well as the number of hours of private practice taken with a parent or friend. In 2008 the DSA published that the average number of 'driving instructor hours' was 45 alongside 22 hours of private practice with friends and/or relatives.

Depending on your expectations this may well come as a shock (or in some cases a comfort) but there are certainly ways to ensure that these hours are kept to a minimum.

Depending on the skills and experience of your supervising driver (I'm not talking about driving instructors here) having lots of hours practising privately prior to taking professional driving lessons may not be a good idea. I find, from time to time, that learner drivers who come to me having 'learned the basics from dad' can sometimes take some time to get out of some bad habit such as keeping the clutch half-down for long periods of time (which would, over time, completely ruin the clutch - which can be a very expensive car part to replace!).

Therefore it can often be a good idea to take a few driving lessons with a 'proper' driving instructor prior to drawing on the experience of another. This could save you hundreds of pounds on getting out of the bad habits and further money by saving the clutch on the family car!

Private practice is certainly a valuable addition to your driving lessons - if used to PRACTICE what you have learned from a professional, as opposed to learning from a non-professional. You could, on the other hand, be fortunate enough to have a very 'clued up' supervisor for your private practice - but be warned: most supervisors would class themselves as 'competent' teachers... my experience has not matched their confidence!

Whatever method you use to learn to drive (with or without private practice) ensure that you find one of the best driving instructors or driving schools - which can knock hours off your driving lessons.

How to Choose the Right Paint Brush

How to Choose the Right Paint Brush

The range of choice available today for the DIY painter decorator has grown massively - almost all painting hardware stores now stock shelf after shelf of paint brushes by various manufacturers, and of varied quality. The mistake most DIY enthusiasts make when choosing their brushes is the make their decision based on brand or price, with a little knowledge you can guarantee improved results. We are often required to repaint over poor handiwork, one of the most common problems we find is wayward bristles stuck in the paintwork - this is the mark of low quality brushes and can be easily avoided by adhering to the following tips;

1. Which bristles are best?

When confronted with the choice of brushes the first thing to check for is the type of fibre used for the bristles. The 3 most popular options are natural fibre, synthetic nylon blends and polyester filament. Each type of fibre is well suited to a specific painting job.

Natural fibres work well with virtually all types of oil based paints, varnishes and stains. However they should be avoided when working with latex based paints and coats.

Synthetic fibres are fantastic for all types of painting and decorating work due to the high stiffness of the bristles, and the fact that they tend to shed bristles far less often. Synthetic bristles are ideally suited for all paints including oil based, latex based, water based, varnishes, wood stains and other types of coating.

2. What is the best material for the brush handle?

We always recommend choosing a wooden handled paint brush for the optimum balance between strength and weight. Wood is durable enough to withstand the constant day to day demands placed by a decorator in London, it is also light enough to prevent the dreaded hand cramps.

3. Be sure to check your ferrule!

The ferrule is the metal fitting that connects your bristles to the paint brush. Whenever possible it is best to go for a stainless steel option. This will ensure that if cared for properly your brushes will last you years.

You may not have known that selecting a paint brush gave you so many options. It is best to invest in a quality set of paint brushes that cost a bit more. Then, take care of them and keep them around for your next job. When you invest in quality, you can count on using those brushes to help you to complete more jobs over the years, quickly and efficiently.

How to Choose Driving Lessons

Are you thinking about taking driving lessons? Are you wondering which driving school to choose?

If you are anything like me, when I was looking around for driving lessons in my home town of Wolverhampton in the UK, no matter where you live you will have noticed that some driving schools focus on offer the cheapest prices possible, whilst others appear to be genuinely providing quality instruction.

I came to the conclusion that the main thing I should be looking for when choosing driving lessons in Wolverhampton, is a driving school that is truthful with you from day regarding what to expect when you drive with them.

Having gone through the process myself with several different driving schools, I realised that there can be a distinct difference between instructors.

The first instructor appeared to be more focused on how many lessons I would commit to before I had even driven with him the first time and the second one barely spoke to me apart from to give me instruction on what to do next but rarely ever how I should do it.

Maybe these approaches work for some people but I would assume that most pupils like myself, would prefer to have a relationship with their instructor which could be described as comfortable.

Wrongly or rightly, if an instructor gives you the impression that they are more concerned with how much money they are going to receive from you or if they make very little attempt to make you feel relaxed, then your progress towards passing your driving test might work out slower than you would like.

My final decision on who to take driving lessons in Wolverhampton with was based on finally finding a driving school where the instructor more or less immediately told me the truth about what to expect during my time with him.

After explaining to me what would happen during lessons and describing the plan of action which would take me up to my driving test, I felt I was 50% of the way to success before I'd even taken my first lesson.

Irrespective of where you live, if you take my advise on what to look for when choosing driving lessons, you can't go far wrong.

Which Paint is Best, Oil-based or Latex?

If you're planning to complete the painting and decorating work as a DIY project, and you're not an experienced painter decorator, then you will most likely achieve the best finish by using a Latex paint. Latex paint is ideally suited to DIY work and novice painters as it is extremely easy to apply, there is a huge range of colour options available and the final finish is highly durable.

If you're considering hiring a professional painter decorator, or you have good experience working with paints, then oil-based paints are a great option. The finish you will get from oil-based paints is particularly deep and exudes luxury, vivid colours are stunningly vibrant. The reason that oil-based paints require more skill to work with is partly due to the added chemical in the product, it is essential that the painting area is well ventilated and the surface is completely dry. You will also require strong chemicals and solvents to clean up any drips and spills.

The final consideration between the two types of paint is drying time, Oil-based paint can take a full day to dry. whilst latex paint is relatively quick drying.

To Gloss, or not to Gloss

Once you have decided on oil-based or latex paint then the next step is to pick which finish is best suited to the living space. You have a range of options, from matt to satin, semi gloss to gloss - each different finish has its advantages. If you have a room which will get a lot of use then you will find that semi-gloss and gloss paints are more durable, they will maintain a great looking finish despite years of hard wear. On the other hand, if the painting surface has imperfections that you'd like to disguise then a matt paint would be the best selection due to the low reflection. Satin paints have been steadily growing in popularity as they are harder wearing than matt finishes, and less shiny than gloss.

The best plan to achieve a great finish is to obtain a number of samples from your local paint store, or hire a professional decorator to advise you.

What You Should Know About Crash Course Driving Lessons

If you had an accident, you can be ordered to have crash course driving lessons. Although most people take them because they want to hurry up and get their driving license. Some people do take them for the enjoyment of it.

These courses are not advisable for the teenager who does not want to wait any longer than they have to, before they get their license. Teens will not learn driving safety in a crash course.

Even though learning to drive takes some time and practice, you will find the instructor that will give you crash course driving lessons. If for some logical reason you need to have your license in a hurry be sure to find an instructor that knows what he or she is doing and has been driving for a good amount of time.

If you are able to find an excellent teacher, they will be able to teach you everything that you need to know in a short amount of time. He or she has probably had their driving instructor jobs for a long time and is ready to give you all the safety information that you should have before you get your license.

If you do decide to take crash course driving lessons you will be given a set amount of time to learn what you need to know. When that time is up if you do not pass your test, you will have to try again.

You might feel great getting your license quicker than other people your age, but you will not learn as much as the people who decided to take their time learned. Being a good, safe driver takes time, not crash course driving lessons.

Any experienced driver will tell you that they are constantly learning new things about driving safely all the time. Sometimes, it will be a new way to avoid an accident, or maybe you could have learned how to drive in the snow. You can miss many good tips if you learn to drive by crash course driving lessons.

You might have to take crash course driving lessons if you were involved in a collision where someone was hurt, or even for a moving violation. Try to use this time to learn how to avoid another accident and to brush up on the driving skills that you already have.

If you want to take driving lessons in Leeds or to pass your driving test quickly, then the best route to take is through an intensive driving course in Leeds. We have weekly courses available, and you could soon have your very own driving licence in as little as 2 weeks.
